I read and waited, but grew so frustrated with the work that I had to put it down never to be read again. Pros The MC is refreshing and amusing. He's very real as a character. The art style is reflective of when it was made, but seriously improves as the chapters progress. The characters are pretty believable to some extent. The original premise of the plot is actually pretty good. ... The writing for developing the plot is horrible. The writing feels like looking at thinly sliced swiss cheese, so many holes and almost see through. The cliches are everywhere, like cooties from girls around a little boy. The characters are almost perfectly static. They may seem to change but a few chapters later they are back to their old antics with a few tricks thrown in. Not only that but the MC constantly makes the same bad decisions over and over again. One of the bigger issues is the author/artist constantly breaking the 4th wall. You'll be in the middle of a dialogue and all of a sudden a character is citing a chapter something happened. It totally breaks the immersion in the story and is so overused that the initial amusement turns to resentment. The arcs of the story are all the same. By the fifth bad guy you feel like deja vu and not in a good way. Not only that but there is never down time for character inter relationship development. There is also tons of silly fan service that detracts from the story. The author also likes to use the same jokes over and over. The horse has combusted by how many times it has been beaten. If it wasn't dead before it certainly is now. One of the most frustrating things was the buff and nerf cycle and how inconsistent it was. On day the MC could take on a master combatant, the next he couldn't even beat a run of the mill farmer. It's kind of funny the MC is considered a genius, because all the side characters pass him in power all the time. The MC would also master something and then completely forget about completely or use it when it was impractical or silly. Overall I really tried to love this publication I really did. So many people told me it was great and I believed. I read chapter after chapter waiting to see the promised land, only to find that the promise was baren. Now I just feel lied to and burned out. I probably won't even think of this publication again unless it's in frustration. Despite this Han Bi Kwang has no desire to learn martial arts and only wants to find a wife and live a peaceful life. The story is quite good despite there not being any overall plot like becoming the strongest or taking over the world or anything like that. Mostly you just follow Han Bi ... Art - The art is good but not great. While in general the art is good, there are times when they are fighting that there is too much going on making it difficult to tell what is happening. But other than that, the character designs are good, and you can always tell who is who which many manga have a hard time doing. Character - This is where Ruler of the Land shines. The characters all have their unique personalities so their in never a dull moment between them. From the extremely perverted Han Bi Kwang to Hwa-Rin uneasy feelings she has toward Bi Kwang the characters make this manhwa what it is. Also something I like there are not a lot of extra characters popping up for a few chapters then leaving, all the characters have their place and help move the story along. Enjoyment - The enjoyment factor for this is high, took me about two days to marathon through this and considering it had my attention for just about all of it I would say it is an enjoyable read. The thing that makes this so good is that it mixes comedy with seriousness quite well, and even though most of the time jokes are being thrown around that doesn't detract from the overall story. While this wasn't the funniest manga I've ever read it does usually leave you with a smile. Overall this is a really good manhwa that is clearly underrated. If you are looking for something enjoyable that will make keep wanting to read this is for you. This manwha may not be as popular as some others but this is definitely a must read for anyone looking for a great fantasy, adventure, martial arts story.
